2027: Lamido Tells Nigerians What to Consider Before Voting for APC Again

Written by Mary Bassey

Former Jigawa State Governor and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Sule Lamido, has urged Nigerians not to repeat what he described as the mistake of voting for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in previous elections.

Lamido made the remarks on Saturday, October 17, 2026, during the inauguration of the PDP Campaign Council at the party’s state headquarters in Dutse, Jigawa State.

He called on Nigerians to compare the performance of previous PDP administrations with that of the current APC-led government before deciding who to support in the 2027 general elections.

According to the former governor, Nigerians should carefully assess the achievements and shortcomings of both parties rather than make their choices based solely on political loyalty.

Lamido criticised the APC-led administration, alleging that it had failed to meet the expectations of Nigerians. He also expressed concern about challenges facing Jigawa State, particularly in healthcare, education and other essential sectors.

He claimed that some hospitals in the state lacked adequate medical services and essential drugs, while the education sector was experiencing difficulties.

The PDP chieftain maintained that Nigeria and Jigawa State needed experienced and competent leaders capable of addressing the challenges confronting residents.

Lamido also expressed confidence in the PDP’s ability to compete in the 2027 elections, assuring party supporters that it was prepared to field candidates for the presidency, National Assembly and state legislative seats.

He further promised that the party would conduct peaceful campaigns without insults, intimidation or personal attacks against political opponents.

The former governor’s comments come as political parties intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections, with economic conditions, public services, security and leadership performance expected to remain important issues in the campaigns.

His remarks reflect the PDP’s criticism of the ruling APC and its appeal to voters to reconsider their political choices ahead of the next election.
