The Cross River State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, as part of its concerns, is at the forefront of Advocacy for Humanity. The Ministry is responsible for material and logistics aid, renders assistance to the needy, and seeks ways to improve the welfare of Cross Riverians.
It is on this basis, the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs headed by the Hon. Dr. Helen Isamoh, in Collaboration with the 10th Assembly Speaker, Hon Elvert Ayambem and other law makers that include Hon. Linus Etim and Hon. Brain Odey, embarked on a trip to Lagos in search of one of the illustrious sons of Cross River State, Mr. Bassey Etim Ironbar.
Mr. Ironbar was a 1981 Nigerian Sports Festival Gold medalist, who we learned was presently living in a degenerate and unfortunate socioeconomic circumstance in the streets of Lagos.
For an entire day, we unsuccessfully combed through the streets of the Ajah Neighbourhood of Lagos State, where he was last seen, searching for Mr. Ironbar. Fortunately the next day, September 8, we were excited to finally locate him.
We are grateful for the support of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of our dear state HE, Sen Prince Bassey Otu whose engagement with our team all through the search, made it possible for us to undertake this mission and to successfully bring Mr. Ironbar back to Cross River State.
