UNICAL at risk as NUC releases accredited Programs

Section 10 (1) of the Education (National Minimum Standard and Establishment of Institutions) Act CAP E3, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004, empowers the National Universities Commission to lay down Minimum Academic Standards for all academic programmes taught in Nigerian Universities and also to accredit such programmes.

In line with the provisions of the Act, the Commission organized the accreditation of academic programmes at University of Calabar, Calabar in October/November, 2023.

Furthermore UNICAL have gain accreditation to Five engineering Departments and others at the same time will also lost certain departments and faculties, including LAW, after two years due to the interim status of accreditation.

The duration of preparation to meet full accreditation starts from now. If prior development isn’t successful, all interim departments and faculties will be closed down and banned.
