Advocating for Inclusive Access to Education: Hon. Enyam Joseph-Kelvin Pushes for State-Owned Institutions on NELFUND Portal
Hon. Comr. Enyam Joseph-Kelvin, Special Assistant on Student Affairs to the Governor of Cross River State, has been inaugurated as a member of the National Students Management Council (NSMC) representing Cross River State. Following his inauguration, Enyam championed the cause for state-owned institutions to be enlisted on the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) portal.
During a strategic meeting with NELFUND\’s management, Enyam expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his commitment to making education more accessible. He highlighted the challenges faced by indigent students in Cross River State due to the exclusion of state-owned institutions from the portal.
Hon. Enyam thanked Governor Sen. (Prince) Bassey Otu and Education Commissioner Sen. Stephen Odey, Ph.D., for their efforts in getting the University of Cross River State listed on the portal. The NELFUND\’s Managing Director and CEO, Akintunde Sawyerr, further confirmed the listing and urged Enyam to facilitate the upload of student data from other state-owned institutions.
Hon. Enyam pledged to engage with tertiary institutions in the state to ensure broader access to the funding.
He appreciated Sawyerr\’s commitment to collaboration, emphasizing the importance of making educational opportunities accessible to all students. Enyam reiterated Governor Otu\’s dedication to fostering collaborations that enhance educational development and create opportunities for students to thrive.
