Effiong Ekpenyong engage Yakurr leaders ahead leboku Festival

The pre-LEBOKU visit tour, led by Mr. Effiong Ekpenyong, Special Adviser on Events Management in the Governor’s office, has greatly influenced the leaders of the Yakurr Local Government and traditional rulers of the Yakurr Nation. This effort highlights the state’s focus on community-driven development and agricultural growth.

Mr. Ekpenyong praised the good relationship between the local government and traditional authorities, reflecting Governor Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu\’s \”people first\” policy. He noted the tour\’s success in promoting the LEBOKU International New Yam Festival as a key part of the state’s economic plan.

This second day of the pre-LEBOKU visit tour led by the Special Adviser, Events Management, Governor’s office, will inscribe indelibly on the hearts of the leaderships of the Yakurr Local Government Council Authority and the traditional seat of rulership of the Yakurr Nation.

The tour began at the office of Mrs. Ayuk, Head of Yakurr Local Government Council. She praised Mr. Effiong Ekpenyong leadership and his success in organizing state events to international standards. Mrs. Ayuk expressed her support for the governor’s administration and stressed the need for infrastructure improvements before the 2024 LEBOKU Festival. She called for government action to ensure the festival\’s success, especially in enhancing local infrastructure.

The day’s activities ended at the Palace of Obol HRM Obol Ofem Ubana Eteng, the Obol Lopon of Ugep and Paramount Ruler of the Yakurr Nation. Mr. Ekpenyong delivered a message from Governor Otu, promoting a peaceful and community-driven LEBOKU. He sought blessings for a good harvest and reinforced the governor\’s commitment to boosting agricultural productivity in the state. “The 2024 LEBOKU International New Yam Festival is themed around community mobilization for sustainable economic growth,” he announced, with plans to reveal the festival’s logo and more details soon.

Obol Lopon Ofem Ubana Eteng was happy about the visit, seeing it as a sign of divine guidance. He emphasized the need for certain infrastructure projects, like a stadium, to be completed before the festival. He invited Governor Otu to be the Special Guest of Honor at the 2024 LEBOKU Festival, while pledging his unalloyed support to the administration, urging the August 1st protesters to give the government a chance to deliver on their people first mandate.
