Oyo Police Arrest Wife of Tinubu in Connection with Death

A 33-year-old nursing mother, Comfort Olalere Tinubu, has been arrested in connection with the death of her husband, 39-year-old Olusegun Tinubu, in their home in the Adegbayi area of Ibadan, Oyo State.

The tragic incident reportedly took place around 10 PM on Wednesday, October 30, according to The Nation. Comfort and Olusegun had been married for about three years and had two children together.

A family source, who wished to remain anonymous, shared details, saying, “I received a call at around 10:03 PM informing me that they had fought, and she had stabbed him. He was rushed to the hospital, but about 30 minutes later, I was informed that my younger brother had died.”

When the incident was reported to the police, Comfort recounted that the argument began when Olusegun accused her of leaving the house at 7 AM and returning around 7 PM, allegedly locking their bedroom door in her absence. The argument escalated after Olusegun reportedly slapped her while she was breastfeeding their child.

A relative living with the couple had attempted to intervene, separating them and suggesting that Olusegun sleep in the living room to prevent further conflict. However, Comfort allegedly attacked her husband later that night, stabbing him in the back as he lay in the living room. Olusegun reportedly screamed for help, collapsed, and was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The case was initially reported at the Gbagi Police Station but has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Iyaganku, Ibadan, for further investigation.
