Central Senatorial District Town Hall Meeting: Addressing Youth Challenges in Ikom LGA.
The Office of the Special Adviser on Youth Mobilization to the Governor of Cross River State, Comr. Dan Obo Jnr., successfully organized a one-day Central Senatorial District Town Hall Meeting in Ikom Local Government Area. The event brought together youths, community leaders, and stakeholders from the central senatorial district to discuss pressing challenges and opportunities affecting young people in the region.
The first speaker, Dr. Prince Agbo, opened the session by appreciating the attendees for their participation. He emphasized the importance of unity among young people, urging them to work together for the betterment of their communities. Dr. Agbo also encouraged the audience to voice their concerns and actively support their leaders while fostering mutual accountability.
A significant highlight of the event was the inauguration of 66 youth mobilizers by Comr. Dan Obo Jnr. These individuals were carefully selected to serve as representatives and change agents within the Cross River State Youth Mobilization Community.
In his remarks, Dan Obo Jnr expressed his gratitude to the youths and citizens of the central senatorial district for their commitment to progress. He commended the Governor of Cross River State for prioritizing youth development, assuring the audience that the administration’s support for young people is genuine. He also announced plans for a larger seminar in January 2024, to be hosted by the Ikom Local Government Chairman, Pastor Mrs. Mercy Nsor, at the Ikom Stadium.
The event chairman, Hon. Kesetima Ntui, praised Comr. Dan Obo for his dedication to youth empowerment and his efforts in organizing platforms for young people to voice their concerns. He urged the youth to collaborate with leaders and actively participate in community development initiatives.
The Local Government Chairman, Pastor Mrs. Mercy Nsor, commended the participants for their enthusiasm and assured them of her continued support. She applauded the state governor for his unwavering commitment to youth development, while encouraging young people to engage in positive acts and take advantage of opportunities for personal and community growth.
Panel Discussion: Tackling Youth Unemployment at Ikom Town Hall Meeting
A key segment of the meeting was a panel discussion featuring four prominent youths from the central senatorial district: Hon. Osim MarkPeace, Comr. Samaroh Irek, Hon. Wofai Otu, and Nandi Angelica. The panel addressed critical questions on youth development, including:
– Strategies to acquire practical skills for employment.
– Ways to empower youths and create job opportunities in local governments.
– Government initiatives to combat unemployment.
The panelists provided actionable insights, with Comr. MarkPeace highlighting platforms available for youth-government communication and stressing the need for stronger interaction mechanisms.
