Following the tragic military helicopter crash in Ghana that claimed several lives and sent shockwaves across the West African region, the Special Envoy for West Africa, Ambassador Charles Omini, has extended his deepest condolences to the Government and People of Ghana, as well as the families of the victims.
In a solemn statement released on Wednesday, Ambassador Omini expressed profound sorrow over the incident and reaffirmed his solidarity with Ghana in this time of national mourning.
“It is with a heavy heart that I extend my deepest condolences to President Nana Akufo-Addo, the Ghana Armed Forces, and the bereaved families. This is a painful loss not just to Ghana, but to the entire West African region. May the souls of the departed rest in perfect peace,”

Ambassador Omini, who serves as the Regional Special Envoy on Peace, Security, and Development for West Africa, emphasized the importance of unity and shared grief among nations in the region. He noted that tragedies such as this call for collective resilience and reflection on the sacrifices made by military personnel in the line of duty.
The helicopter crash, which occurred during a routine military operation, has triggered an outpouring of grief across the continent, with leaders and diplomats extending messages of solidarity and support to Ghana.
