Speaking to leaders of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Comr. Obo emphasized the importance of every eligible citizen acquiring a Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) as the only valid instrument of participation in governance.
He reminded the gathering that while many have applauded the achievements of the current administration, sustaining good governance requires active electoral participation. “There is power in your PVC,” he declared, urging the church leaders to seize the opportunity of the ongoing free voter registration exercise.
In his response, Pastor Victor Ovat, Chairman of CAN Obubra Branch, endorsed Comr. Obo’s message, stressing that the church has a duty to encourage good governance through participation in the electoral process. He assured the Special Adviser that CAN would ensure its members take the registration exercise seriously and turn out en masse to vote when the time comes.
Also speaking, Apostle Celestine Amuche Agu, President of PFN Obubra Chapter, commended the initiative and urged Christian leaders to sensitize their various congregations. He described the PVC registration as a golden opportunity for the faithful to begin their journey of meaningful involvement in the nation’s democracy.
The PFN President further appreciated Comr. Obo for personally engaging with the Christian community at the grassroots, describing him as a rare leader who values the people even before election periods. “Your courage to come down to our level in Obubra to sensitize us will not be taken for granted. This is true leadership,” he said.
The sensitization meeting marks the beginning of a broader mobilization effort by the Special Adviser, aimed at ensuring that youths and communities across Cross River State actively participate in the electoral process to secure victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Bassey Edet Otu’s political agenda.
