The leadership of the OBO (Bekwarra, Obudu, Obanliku) Federal Constituency has responded to a communiqué allegedly issued by a group identifying itself as “Concerned Stakeholders of Bekwarra, Obudu, Obanliku Federal Constituency,” describing the body as unrecognized and its claims as misleading.

In a statement released by the OBO Leadership Forum, the group expressed concern over what it termed an attempt to discredit the OBO entity and its leadership. While noting that it would ordinarily not engage with what it described as an “amorphous and faceless assembly,” the Forum deemed it necessary to clarify key issues for the public.

The Forum emphasized that OBO is a widely recognized acronym representing the Bekwarra, Obudu, and Obanliku Federal Constituency at the National Assembly. It dismissed claims that the body lacks legitimacy due to non-registration, stressing that recognition and relevance are not solely dependent on formal registration but also on identity, purpose, and public acceptance.

Addressing comments allegedly downplaying the stature of individuals associated with OBO, the Forum highlighted the contributions of respected leaders within its fold, particularly the Chairman of the OBO Elders Forum, Dr. Ntufam Fidelis Ugbo. He was described as a prominent figure whose political influence and service have spanned decades, making significant impacts both within Cross River State and beyond.

The statement further noted that leadership and credibility should not be measured solely by titles or formal qualifications but by tangible contributions, integrity, and societal impact.

Reaffirming its political position, the OBO Leadership Forum pledged unwavering support to the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Cross River State Governor, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu. The group also reiterated its commitment to delivering electoral support in the 2027 general elections.

Additionally, the Forum declared its continued resolve to pursue the OBO constituency’s senatorial ambition in 2027, emphasizing unity and collective purpose among its people.

The statement concluded with a call for solidarity within the constituency and a reaffirmation of loyalty to the state and national leadership.

Signed:
Dr. Ntufam Fidelis Ugbo, Esq.
