Tottenham Agree Club-Record €100m Deal for Sandro Tonali
Tottenham Hotspur have reached an agreement to sign Italian midfielder Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United in a club-record transfer worth €100 million.
The deal consists of a fixed fee of £92.5 million, with a further £7.5 million in performance-related add-ons, taking the total package to the €100 million mark. Newcastle have accepted Tottenham’s proposal after productive negotiations between the two Premier League clubs.
Tonali has also agreed personal terms with Spurs, paving the way for the transfer to be completed in the coming days. The move represents one of the biggest signings in Tottenham’s history and underlines the club’s ambition to compete at the highest level.
The 25-year-old midfielder is expected to become a key figure in Tottenham’s midfield, bringing composure, tactical intelligence, defensive solidity and exceptional passing ability. Since arriving in the Premier League, Tonali has established himself as one of Europe’s most complete midfielders, making him a priority target for Spurs.
For Newcastle, the transfer marks the departure of one of their standout performers, although the record-breaking fee provides significant financial flexibility as the club looks to strengthen other areas of the squad during the transfer window.
Tottenham’s latest acquisition follows an aggressive recruitment strategy aimed at building a squad capable of challenging for major honours both domestically and in Europe. The signing of Tonali is expected to further elevate the quality and depth of Ange Postecoglou’s midfield options ahead of the new season.
With both clubs having reached a full agreement and the player committed to the move, only the final formalities remain before the transfer is officially announced.
The blockbuster deal is set to become one of the headline transfers of the summer, as Tottenham continue to make a major statement in the market with another high-profile signing.
