The Cross River State Councillors Forum has extended heartfelt appreciation to Governor Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu for approving and ensuring the successful payment of car grants to all the 196 councillors across the state’s 18 local government areas.
In a statement issued on behalf of the councillors, the Chairman of the Cross River Councillors Forum, Hon. Princess Magdalene Ekpe, described the gesture as a clear demonstration of Governor Otu’s unwavering commitment to grassroots governance and the welfare of elected representatives.
According to the Forum, the approval and disbursement of the car grants underscore the governor’s dedication to empowering local government officials and enhancing effective service delivery at the grassroots level.
Hon. Ekpe noted that the administration’s “People First” approach continues to inspire confidence among public office holders and residents of the state, adding that the gesture reflects an inclusive style of governance that prioritizes the needs and welfare of the people.
“The entire 196 councillors in Cross River State deeply appreciate this remarkable intervention by His Excellency. This act of generosity further demonstrates his commitment to strengthening local governance and supporting elected representatives in carrying out their responsibilities effectively,” the statement read.
The Forum also reaffirmed its loyalty, support, and commitment to the successful implementation of Governor Otu’s policies and programmes aimed at promoting sustainable development and prosperity across Cross River State.
The councillors pledged continued collaboration with the state government in advancing policies that will positively impact communities and improve the living standards of residents.
