Calabar Community Breathes Again After Major Power Intervention

Written by Mary Bassey

Residents and business owners along Cemetery Road in Etta Agbor Layout, Calabar Metropolis, can now look forward to a stable electricity supply after Governor Bassey Otu approved the deployment of a high-capacity transformer to the area.

The intervention brings to an end a five-month power outage that had disrupted daily activities and affected businesses within the community.

The transformer was deployed through the Cross River State Electrification Agency as part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen electricity infrastructure and expand access to reliable power across Cross River.

Presenting the transformer on behalf of the governor, the Director General of the Cross River State Electrification Agency, Hon. Francis Ekpo, said the intervention reflects Governor Otu’s commitment to improving the welfare of residents by addressing critical power challenges.

Ekpo noted that the administration remains focused on providing sustainable electricity solutions that will stimulate economic growth, support businesses, and improve the quality of life for communities across the state.

He added that the People’s First administration will continue to invest in electricity infrastructure to ensure more communities enjoy stable and uninterrupted power supply.
