Ogogo’s Health Sparks Powerful Response From Nollywood Stars

Written by Mary Bassey

Nollywood actors and filmmakers in the Yoruba movie industry have rallied around veteran actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, with prayers for his recovery amid his ongoing health challenges.

In a video circulating on social media, prominent figures in the Yoruba film industry were seen praying for the actor and seeking Allah’s mercy, strength and divine intervention in his condition.

Among those featured in the prayer session were veteran actors Jide Kosoko, Fausat Balogun, popularly known as Madam Saje, Yinka Quadri, Rotimi Salami, Mr Latin, Adewale Elesho and Antar Laniyan.

The actors prayed for Ogogo’s strength, healing and recovery, calling on Allah to intervene in his situation and grant him the grace to overcome the health challenge.

The prayers come amid growing public concern over the actor’s condition after his daughters, Lima and Kira Taiwo, disclosed that their father is battling what they described as stage-four cancer. The family has also appealed for medical assistance and urged anyone with access to specialised treatment to come forward.

The development has triggered an outpouring of support from fans, colleagues and well-wishers, with many offering prayers and assistance to the veteran actor.

Jide Kosoko recently disclosed that hundreds of people, reportedly more than 500, had reached out with offers of medical, spiritual and other forms of assistance. However, he explained that moving Ogogo from his current hospital while he is receiving treatment would be extremely difficult.

Kosoko also urged Nigerians and other well-wishers to continue praying for Ogogo and supporting his family as they remain hopeful for his recovery.

Ogogo, who has spent decades in the Nigerian film industry, remains one of the prominent figures in Yoruba-language cinema.
