Aston Villa Reach Verbal Agreement to Sign Leon Goretzka

Villa have reached a verbal agreement to sign German midfielder Leon Goretzka from Bayern Munich, with the player now agreeing terms with the Premier League club.

The move has taken a major step forward following a direct call between Goretzka and Aston Villa manager Unai Emery. The conversation was key to convincing the experienced midfielder to make the switch to England, with Emery outlining his plans and the role Goretzka could play at Villa Park.

Goretzka, 31, is now set for a new chapter away from Bayern Munich, where he has established himself as one of Germany’s most experienced midfielders. During his time in Bavaria, he became an important part of Bayern’s midfield and won several major trophies, including Bundesliga titles and the UEFA Champions League.

Aston Villa view Goretzka’s experience and leadership as valuable additions to Emery’s squad. His physical strength, passing ability and versatility in midfield could provide Villa with another high-quality option as they look to compete across multiple competitions.

The agreement with the player represents a significant breakthrough in the negotiations. Further discussions are expected between the clubs as they work toward finalising the transfer and completing the necessary paperwork.

Goretzka’s arrival would be another statement signing for Aston Villa and further evidence of Emery’s ambition to strengthen the squad with experienced players capable of competing at the highest level.

With a verbal agreement now in place, attention will turn to the final details of the transfer before Goretzka can officially become an Aston Villa player.
