Two people were feared dead on Monday following a violent clash over the control of a motor park at Naira and Kobo Junction in Ikire, Irewole Local Government Area of Osun State.
The incident reportedly occurred around 10:30 a.m. when a group of drivers allegedly arrived at the park and attempted to take control of its operations.
Videos and photographs from the scene showed two men lying on the ground. One of the men appeared to have sustained a severe head injury, while another was seen lying face down in a pool of blood.
The circumstances surrounding the reported deaths had yet to be independently verified as of the time of filing this report.
Sources familiar with the development, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said drivers allegedly associated with the All Progressives Congress had been operating the park before the incident.
The sources claimed that some drivers said to be supporters of the Accord Party later arrived at the park and allegedly attempted to assume control of the facility, leading to a confrontation.
The ensuing violence reportedly caused panic among residents and commuters in the area, while details of possible arrests or additional casualties remained unclear.
Efforts to obtain an official reaction from the Osun State Police Command were ongoing as of the time of filing this report.
