Nigerian music heavyweights Davido, Wizkid and Burna Boy are among the major names attracting attention as nominations for the 18th Headies Awards are unveiled.
The organisers are set to hold the 18th edition of the prestigious music awards in Toronto, Canada, as the ceremony takes the Headies to the international stage once again.
The official Headies website confirms that the 18th edition is themed “Africa to the World”, with the awards ceremony scheduled for October 2026 in Toronto. The event is expected to celebrate outstanding achievements in African music and highlight the growing global influence of Afrobeats.
Davido, Wizkid and Burna Boy remain among the biggest names associated with the latest edition, with their nominations generating interest among music fans ahead of the ceremony.
Davido has continued to enjoy major recognition on the international music scene, while Wizkid and Burna Boy remain influential figures in the global expansion of Afrobeats.
Davido’s collaboration with Omah Lay, “With You,” has also attracted significant attention in major award conversations. The song previously earned recognition at the 2026 Grammy Awards, where it was nominated for Best African Music Performance.
The 18th Headies will mark another international chapter for the awards. The ceremony previously moved outside Nigeria for its 15th and 16th editions in Atlanta before returning to Lagos for the 17th edition in 2025.
The move to Toronto is part of the organisers’ broader plan to showcase Nigerian and African music to a wider global audience.
As anticipation builds, music lovers will be watching closely to see which artistes emerge as the biggest winners when the 18th Headies takes place in Canada.
