The Neighbour 2 Neighbour (N2N) Network has intensified its grassroots mobilisation efforts for the 2027 general elections, taking its campaign for the re-election of Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Edet Otu, to the Southern Senatorial District.
The group has also announced an ambitious target of mobilising more than one million votes for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 presidential and governorship elections.
N2N, a grassroots movement focused on promoting the achievements of the Otu administration and strengthening voter mobilisation across Cross River State, says it is building an organic structure capable of reaching communities across the state’s 196 wards.
N2N Inaugurates Ward and Polling Unit Coordinators
The Director-General of N2N, Dr. Bobby Ekpenyong, disclosed this during the inauguration of 40 ward coordinators and polling unit coordinators held separately in Bakassi, Akpabuyo, Calabar South and Calabar Municipality.
Ekpenyong said the primary objective of the movement was to galvanise residents at the grassroots and communicate the achievements of Governor Otu, whom supporters commonly refer to as the “Sweet Prince.”
He explained that N2N has established structures at the local government, ward and neighbourhood levels, with each neighbourhood cell comprising 10 coordinators.
According to him, each coordinator is expected to mobilise 10 persons under what the movement calls “Operation Get 10 Persons.”
“We have a very strong advocacy structure,” Ekpenyong said.
N2N Targets Massive Voter Turnout in 2027
The N2N Director-General said the 2027 general elections would require a different approach to voter participation, stressing that the group would collaborate with the Otu administration, APC leadership and other support groups to achieve its voter mobilisation target.
He said the movement had been traversing the length and breadth of Cross River State and engaging residents across the 196 wards to encourage greater participation in the electoral process.
Ekpenyong said the objective was to bridge the gap created by low voter turnout and strengthen Cross River’s voting strength in the 2027 elections.
“The 2027 election is not a year of sitting on the fence; it is not an election of voter apathy. It is a call to action by all persons of voting age.”
He added that the movement would work towards ensuring that the state records significantly higher voter participation than in previous elections.
According to him, increased voter turnout would give Cross River greater leverage in negotiating for its interests at the federal level.
Women Mobilisation Key to N2N Campaign
Speaking at the various events, N2N Director of Women Mobilisation, Dr. Silo Ekpenyong, called on women across the state to participate actively in the electoral process.
She urged women to engage their neighbours, children, church members and colleagues on the importance of participating in elections.
Dr. Silo also highlighted what she described as empowerment initiatives of the Otu administration targeting women in agriculture, trading and politics.
She urged women to carefully assess political messages and programmes ahead of the 2027 elections.
Effeffiom Nta Eke Backs N2N Mobilisation Drive
At the Calabar Municipality event, APC House of Representatives candidate for Calabar Municipality/Odukpani Federal Constituency, Dr. Effeffiom Nta Eke, said the administrations of Governor Otu and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu deserved continued support, citing infrastructure and economic development initiatives.
Nta Eke commended N2N for taking up the challenge of mobilising voters across the state and pledged to collaborate with the movement towards achieving its mobilisation objectives.
He described the 2027 election as one that could witness significant changes in voter participation and mobilisation.
N2N Leadership and Stakeholders Attend Events
Among the dignitaries who attended the events were members of the N2N Board of Trustees, including Hon. Nkom John, Secretary; Hon. Mrs. Etta Okon, Women Leader, Calabar Municipality; Mr. Offiong Asuquo, Odukpani Coordinator; Mr. Offiong Eyo; Pastor Okon Ekpo, Bakassi LGA Coordinator; Chief Emmanuel Asuquo, Calabar South Coordinator; Dr. Effiom Ekpo, N2N Director of Finance; and Hon. Bassey Etim Okon, Akpabuyo Coordinator.
Others included Chief Effiong Etim Archibong, Calabar Municipal Council Chapter Coordinator; Mr. Dominic Edem, Chapter Secretary; Mrs. Eta Larry, Chapter Women Mobiliser; Effiong Etim Bassey, Chapter Youth Mobiliser; Mr. Bassey Ita (Baddest), Special Adviser to the Governor on Tolls; and former House of Assembly member, Mr. Efa Esua.
The latest mobilisation drive underscores N2N’s growing grassroots structure as political groups across Cross River State begin preparations and mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
