SSG urges Obubra communities to sustain peace, togetherness and development
The Secretary to the Cross River State Government, Prof. Anthony Owan Enoh, has congratulated stakeholders and communities in Obubra Local Government Area on the maiden Obubra New Yam Festival 2026, describing the initiative as an important platform for promoting unity and togetherness among the people.
Prof. Owan Enoh, who was represented at the event by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth Mobilisation, His Youthfulness Comr. Dan Obo Jnr., attended the festival, which was organised to bring communities across Obubra together in celebration and unity.
Owan Enoh Commends Obubra New Yam Festival
Speaking on behalf of the Secretary to the State Government, Dan Obo Jnr. recognised the presence of dignitaries, traditional leaders, stakeholders and members of the various Obubra communities at the event.
He stated that Prof. Owan Enoh remained concerned about the development and progress of the Local Government Area.
Obo conveyed the SSG’s congratulations to the stakeholders and particularly commended the Chairman of Obubra Local Government Area for initiating what he described as an important gathering aimed at bringing the communities together.
According to him, the initiative could become a lasting legacy for the council leadership and the people of Obubra.
“In another ten years, the Chairman will be proud of this initiative,” Obo said.
Dan Obo: Festival Can Strengthen Unity
The Special Adviser said cultural gatherings such as the New Yam Festival provide an avenue for communities to interact, strengthen relationships and promote peaceful coexistence.
He noted that bringing the various communities together through a common cultural celebration was one of the practical ways of fostering unity among the people.
Obo expressed optimism that the desire for greater unity among the people of Obubra would be sustained beyond the maiden edition of the festival.
He congratulated the organisers, stakeholders and people of Obubra on the successful celebration and prayed for continued peace, unity and development across the local government area.
The Obubra New Yam Festival 2026 is expected to provide a platform for cultural celebration while strengthening relationships among the communities and promoting a shared sense of identity and development.
