### Sad! One Dead, Three Injured as Lexus Jeep Crashes on Lagos Coastal Road
A tragic road accident along the Lagos Coastal Road has claimed the life of one person and left three others seriously injured, raising fresh concerns about road safety in the state.
The crash occurred on Friday, October 2, 2026, along the Coastal Road inward Eko Hotel, involving a grey Lexus Jeep 350 with registration number LSD 554 KV.
According to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), preliminary information indicated that the vehicle reportedly lost control, collided with a roadside pole and overturned, resulting in one fatality and three serious injuries.
LASTMA operatives monitoring traffic along the corridor quickly mobilised to the scene, secured the affected section of the road and coordinated emergency response efforts.
The three injured victims were rescued from the wreckage with the assistance of Good Samaritans and rushed to Duck-Yard Hospital within the Military Zone for urgent medical attention.
Security personnel from Victoria Island also provided support during the rescue operation, while LASTMA officials removed the wrecked vehicle from the carriageway to prevent further accidents and restore normal traffic flow.
Reacting to the incident, LASTMA General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and urged motorists to exercise greater caution while driving.
He warned that excessive speed, reckless driving and loss of vehicular control could have devastating consequences for motorists and other road users.
Bakare-Oki further advised drivers to maintain safe speeds, remain vigilant and comply with traffic regulations to reduce the risk of avoidable road accidents.
He also encouraged members of the public to report road crashes, vehicle breakdowns, obstructions and other emergencies through LASTMA’s toll-free short code, **3367**, for prompt intervention.
The circumstances surrounding the crash remain subject to further investigation.
The tragic incident serves as another reminder of the importance of responsible driving and strict adherence to road safety measures.
