Chelsea Hit Bournemouth for Five as Henderson and Pedro Steal the Show

Written by Mary Bassey

Chelsea returned to winning ways in the English Premier League on Saturday with an emphatic 5-1 victory over Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge, inspired by braces from Jordan Henderson and João Pedro.

The Blues made a flying start, scoring twice within the opening three minutes to put Bournemouth under immediate pressure.

Henderson opened the scoring in the second minute after receiving a pass from Cole Palmer before Morgan Rogers doubled Chelsea’s advantage shortly afterwards, with Henderson providing the assist.

Chelsea maintained their attacking momentum after the break, with João Pedro extending the lead in the 46th minute following a pass from Pedro Neto.

Bournemouth briefly threatened a comeback when Evanilson scored in the 51st minute to reduce the deficit to 3-1.

However, João Pedro restored Chelsea’s three-goal advantage in the 67th minute, completing his brace after connecting with a delivery from Pep Chavarría.

Henderson then rounded off an outstanding individual performance by scoring his second goal in the 70th minute with a superb free-kick to seal Chelsea’s 5-1 triumph.

The victory was an important response from Chelsea after three consecutive Premier League matches without a win, including a disappointing 3-0 defeat to Brentford before the international break.

The result also strengthened Chelsea’s position in the league standings, with the London club moving up to fifth place at the time of the match.

For Bournemouth, the defeat highlighted their defensive struggles, particularly their inability to cope with Chelsea’s early attacking pressure.

Henderson’s two goals and assist made him one of the standout performers of the afternoon, while João Pedro’s brace further underlined Chelsea’s attacking strength.

Chelsea will now look to build on the convincing result as they continue their Premier League campaign.
