The Commissioner of Police in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, has urged members of Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho’s, Iru Ekun Security Network to maintain close cooperation with the police and other security agencies in tackling insecurity.
Sanusi gave the advice during a meeting with the FCT coordinator of the security outfit, Segun Olufadeju, popularly known as Aluwaye, and members of his team in Abuja.
The meeting was aimed at strengthening collaboration between the police and the community-based security network to improve public safety and address criminal activities.
According to reports, the police commissioner emphasised the importance of coordination between the outfit and established security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigerian Army and the Department of State Services (DSS).
He also urged the group to inform the relevant police authorities, particularly Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), about its activities within their areas of operation.
The directive is intended to promote effective communication, improve crime prevention and ensure that community security initiatives operate in collaboration with recognised law enforcement agencies.
In response, the FCT coordinator of Iru Ekun Security Network pledged that the organisation would continue to engage with the police and keep the relevant authorities informed about its activities.
The development comes as the security outfit intensifies efforts to establish working relationships with security agencies to address kidnapping, banditry and other criminal activities.
Founded by Igboho, Iru Ekun Security Network was established to support efforts to improve security, particularly in communities across South-West Nigeria.
The latest engagement highlights the importance of cooperation between community-based security groups and conventional security agencies in protecting lives and property.
