Under the leadership of AIG Chief Enene Okon (Rtd.) , Chairman of the Board of Trustees, the Ideal Progressive Movement brings grassroots stakeholders together to strengthen community engagement and advance its political objectives.
The Ideal Progressive Movement (IPM), a grassroots support group under the All Progressives Congress (APC), successfully conducted a tour of the ten wards of Bakassi Local Government Area before convening a Town Hall Meeting that brought together political stakeholders, traditional leaders and members of the community for meaningful engagement.
During the ward tour, members of the Movement engaged residents, listened to their concerns and received feedback on the challenges confronting their communities. The tour, described by the Movement as the first of its kind across all ten wards, provided an opportunity for direct interaction with the grassroots and strengthened engagement between the Movement and the people.
During the ward visits, IPM extended gifts to the communities and clans visited as a gesture of goodwill and solidarity. Beyond the material gestures, the exercise created room for residents to express their expectations, discuss community needs and contribute to conversations about the future of Bakassi.
Following the completion of the ten-ward tour, IPM held a Town Hall Meeting that provided a broader platform to sustain these conversations. The meeting brought together political stakeholders, traditional leaders and members of the community to deliberate on issues affecting the people and the development of the local government area.
The Town Hall Meeting was graced by *His Excellency, Apostle Senator Bassey Edet Otu,* Governor of Cross River State, who was ably represented by the Honourable Commissioner for Information, *Hon. Pst. Ekpenyong Cobham* , and marked a significant moment in the Movement’s grassroots engagement efforts.
The meeting was chaired by *Engr. Eyo Ita Eyo-Ndem* and witnessed the participation of traditional rulers and community leaders from the various clans across Bakassi, alongside other stakeholders. The presence of traditional leaders across the clans further underscored the importance of inclusive engagement and the role of traditional institutions in community development and peacebuilding.
Under the leadership of AIG Chief Enene Okon (Rtd.), Chairman of the Board of Trustees, IPM has continued to position grassroots mobilisation and stakeholder engagement at the centre of its activities. The Movement’s approach reflects its stated commitment to reaching communities directly, listening to their concerns and encouraging collective participation in the political process.
The meeting also aligned with the Movement’s mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections, with a focus on the APC 5/5 agenda in Bakassi. IPM reiterated the importance of unity, cooperation and sustained grassroots participation in pursuing its political objectives.
The successful completion of the ten-ward tour, followed by the Town Hall Meeting, represents a key phase in IPM’s ongoing engagement with the people of Bakassi. By first reaching communities across the wards and subsequently bringing together community voices, traditional authorities and political stakeholders, the Movement has created additional opportunities for dialogue on the concerns and aspirations of the people.
For IPM, the message remains that meaningful grassroots engagement requires more than reaching the communities; it requires listening to their voices, acknowledging their concerns and sustaining dialogue with the people.

As the Movement continues its activities across Bakassi, it remains focused on strengthening stakeholder relationships, encouraging community participation and pursuing its stated objective of advancing the APC 5/5 agenda ahead of the 2027 general elections.
