National Surgical, Obsterics, Anaethesia and Nursing Plan (NSOANP) for Nigeria, a federal government iniative to see how Minor Surgeries can be carried out in primary facilities across Nigeria amongst other health benefitting programs will soon be implemented in CRS being one of the selected States in South South.
During the planning meeting held in general hospital Calabar where an elaborate presentation was made by the federal ministry of health team led by Mrs Louisa Ukut, the Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Health Dr. Iwara Iwara has commended the giant efforts and positive innovation of the federal government stating that NSOANP if fully implemented will be of huge benefit to Nigerians. He has assured the team of the States readiness to domesticate the plans, share it with the State governor and then prepare to kick start the process as CRS is aware of the importance as well as the benefit of the project to her people.
\”I want to thank and welcome everyone here especially the representatives of the Federal Ministry of Health led by Mrs Ukut, on behalf of the Governor of CRS Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade, I welcome you to CRS. I must express my sincere gratitude to the federal government of Nigeria for leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that the health system of our country continues to get improved. This is a well developed plan that will be of immense importance to our people as such, as a State we\’re going to adapt, adopt and domesticate it before Implementation as this will help push up our medical services.
\”Though policy documents like this have been developed severally at the Federal level and adopted by States so CRS primary facilities is not ignorant of the procedure as well as the requirements, we\’ll key into this development even before other States as a desk officer on this project will be provided almost immediately while we solicit that you build on their capacities and man power.
Dr. Iwara assured the team of the State\’s readiness to immediately seek the concern and approval of the Governor so the domestication and possible Implementation can commence. He thanked the effort of everyone especially the team from the Federal Ministry of Health.
Other important health dignitaries during the presentation were the Director of Medical and Dental Services Dr. Itam Essien, the Director of Nursing Dr. Pauline Obute, Director Lab, Mrs. Magreth Nkang, Medical Superintendent of general hospital Calabar Dr. Kumar, head of IDH Dr Offor, Dr. Ayi head of the fistula unit GHC, Dr. Ayah of private practitioners, representative of the CRSPHCDA, amongst others.
