Chief Whip of the Cross River House of Assembly and Member Representing Boki 2 State Constituency, Rt Hon Hilary Ekpang Bisong, has said that the best form of appreciation to God, is building a house for him, which is the Church. He made the declaration at the Thanksgiving Mass commemorating the Boki New Yam festival celebration.

\”The Lord has been gracious to me and my family and there is no better way to appreciate God than building a house for him, the church.
This church serves as a place for worship and it is important to make it beautiful just like our individual homes.

While expressing joy and appreciation to God, the Honorable Member described the Thanksgiving event as a means of saying Thank you to God.
He also donated to the building of the church.

During the cultural Festival segment of the celebration, Rt Hon Hilary re-emphasized the importance of the Boki New Yam as a cultural festival and its positive impact for tourism. He maintained that the celebration is good for the unit and peaceful co-existence.

This celebration is important for us as Boki Nation. It is a good thing to celebrate our cultural heritage in such manner and this occasion avail us with yet, another opportunity for unity. It is the second edition, and I am happy that it has reawaken the consciousness of our patrilineal existence.\”

In a related development, Cross River State Governor, Prince Bassey Edet Otu, has said that the Boki New Yam festival will become one of the state\’s cultural Tourism event, once it goes through the legislative process of establishment. The governor made the declaration during the annual Boki New Yam festival celebration hosted by Rt Hon Hilary Bisong.

Governor Otu, who was ably represented by the Deputy Governor, Rt Hon Peter Odey, noted that the festival has gotten the needed features to become one of the state\’s cultural Tourism events. He maintained that if made thorough a legislative process, the executive branch will asset to it without delay.

Guests who spoke separately during the occasion, applauded the foresight of Rt Hon Hilary Bisong for conceiving such a great idea of showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Boki people to the world.
