The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State, led by the State Chairman, Hon. Chris Agibe Sunny Etta, has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening relations with the media following an interactive session with members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Cross River State Council.

The engagement, which took place at the NUJ Press Centre in Calabar, provided a platform for discussions on recent political developments in the state, APC leadership activities, governance issues, and the role of the media in promoting balanced reportage.

During the interactive session, journalists were given the opportunity to express observations and concerns regarding recent political developments in the state.

Media practitioners highlighted issues surrounding access to information, the relationship between journalists and political office holders, and the challenges associated with obtaining official responses from some government and party executives.

They noted that limited engagement with the media often results in incomplete or one-sided reports on political activities and governance matters.

Speaking during the meeting, APC State Chairman, Hon. Chris Agibe Sunny Etta, reiterated his commitment to maintaining a cordial relationship with journalists in Cross River State.

He assured members of the NUJ that deliberate efforts would be made to encourage greater interaction between party leaders, government officials, and media practitioners.

The APC chairman also acknowledged that certain factors may have contributed to the perceived distance between some political leaders and the media, assuring journalists that steps would be taken to bridge the gap.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Cross River State Council, Comrade Archibong Bassey, commended the APC leadership for initiating the interactive engagement.

She described the meeting as a positive development that would promote mutual understanding and improve information flow between political leaders and journalists.
