Atlético Madrid Complete Agreement to Sign Alejandro Grimaldo from Bayer Leverkusen
Atlético Madrid have reached a full agreement with Bayer Leverkusen to sign left-back Alejandro Grimaldo, with the transfer now completed after all key details were finalized between the two clubs.
The Spanish defender had already agreed personal terms with Atlético Madrid last week, and the remaining step was the negotiation of the transfer fee. The final package is understood to be worth more than €20 million, bringing an end to the discussions between the clubs.
Grimaldo was reportedly keen on joining Atlético Madrid and made the Spanish club his preferred destination. The 29-year-old is now set to begin a new chapter of his career at the Metropolitano Stadium after a successful spell in Germany with Bayer Leverkusen.
The left-back played a major role in Bayer Leverkusen’s recent success, contributing with his attacking quality, creativity, and experience from the flank. His arrival is expected to strengthen Atlético’s defensive options and provide additional quality in the wide areas.
Having previously developed at FC Barcelona before making his name at SL Benfica and later Bayer Leverkusen, Grimaldo brings valuable European experience to Diego Simeone’s squad.
The deal marks another important addition for Atlético Madrid as they continue to build a competitive squad for domestic and European challenges. Grimaldo is now preparing for his next challenge in La Liga, where he will wear Atlético’s colours and look to make an immediate impact.
