Chelsea Academy Teams Rebranded as ‘Cobham Next Gen’

Chelsea have announced a new name for their leading Academy teams ahead of the 2026-27 season, with the club’s Under-21s and Under-19s squads set to be known as Cobham Next Gen.

The rebranding will take effect from the beginning of the new campaign and is designed to better reflect the age profile of the players competing at the highest levels of Chelsea’s Academy setup.

Chelsea explained that the new identity also highlights the club’s long-standing commitment to developing young talent and preparing players for senior football.

In a club statement, Chelsea said: “The new name more accurately reflects the age profile of our leading Academy side and Chelsea’s long-standing heritage of developing the next generation of players for the senior game.”

The Cobham Academy has played a key role in producing first-team players for Chelsea and continues to be an important part of the club’s long-term development strategy.

The introduction of the Cobham Next Gen name represents a fresh identity for the Academy’s leading age groups while maintaining Chelsea’s focus on developing young players capable of making the step up to senior football.
