Mbang Confidence has been appointed member Citizens’ Liberties Committee (CLC)

NBA President, Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN appoints Mbang Confidence, Esq as member of the Citizens’ Liberties Committee (CLC) of the NBA, inaugurates other committees.

Few weeks upon assumption of office as NBA President, Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN has shown passion and concern towards protecting the rights of citizens across Nigeria. This stems from the establishment of the Citizens’ Liberties Committee (CLC) established during his acceptance speech as President on the 29th of August, 2024.

The President in a comprehensive list appointed Mbang Confidence, Esq as member of the Citizens’ Liberties Committee (CLC).

While thanking the President, Mbang Confidence, Esq noted that, “The establishment of the committee by the NBA President is timely and underscores the interest of the leadership towards safeguarding the rights of citizens and upholding the rule of law.”

He said, “The CLC is a specialized Committee designed to safeguard the rights and liberties of individuals, particularly those in detention facilities. The Committee will work closely with the NBA branch Human Rights Committees, law enforcement agencies, and the judiciary to ensure the protection of human rights and uphold the rule of law in Nigeria.”

“The Committee, in collaboration with the NBA branch Human Rights Committees, will oversee the inspection of police stations and detention centers to identify potential human rights violations, unlawful detentions, and breaches of statutory duties by law enforcement officers, amongst others.”

The young lawyer considered the appointment as a call to service, and pledged to render his services to the best of his ability in furtherance of the aims and objectives of the committee.
