The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned three men before the Federal High Court in Abuja over allegations that they impersonated popular Nigerian blogger Tunde Ednut to obtain more than ₦18.2 million from unsuspecting members of the public.
The defendants, Raymond Charles Yafetus, Auwal Ibrahim and Babangida Yahaya Ibrahim, are facing allegations of conspiracy, cybercrime, impersonation and obtaining money by false pretence.
They were arraigned before Justice S. O. Ibrahim over alleged offences said to have occurred between April and June 2026.
According to the charge, the defendants allegedly used the identity of Adekunle Tunde Olaoluwa, popularly known as Tunde Ednut, to open bank accounts in different financial institutions and fraudulently obtain a total of ₦18,264,700.
One of the charges alleged that the defendants acted with the intention to defraud by assuming the blogger’s identity and using it to collect money from unsuspecting individuals.
The alleged offences were said to be contrary to provisions of Nigeria’s Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015.
During the court proceedings, the defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Prosecution counsel, Elizabeth Alabi, subsequently asked the court to remand them at the Kuje Correctional Centre pending the continuation of the case.
Justice Ibrahim granted the request, ordering that the defendants be remanded at the correctional facility.
The court adjourned the matter until November 17, 2026, for further proceedings.
The allegations have not been established in court, and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
