Fuji music icon, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as KWAM 1 or K1 De Ultimate, was overcome with emotion while performing following the death of veteran Nollywood actor, Taiwo Hassan, better known as Ogogo.
A video circulating on social media showed the musician breaking down in tears during a live performance as he paid tribute to the late actor.
K1 De Ultimate reportedly rendered a tribute to Ogogo but became visibly emotional while singing about the actor’s death. He eventually stepped away from the microphone and wept, prompting members of his band and associates to console him.
After regaining his composure, the Fuji star continued with the performance as he mourned the death of the veteran actor.
Ogogo died on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at the age of 66, after a prolonged battle with cancer. His death came days after his daughters, Kaira and Lima Taiwo, appealed for medical assistance for their father.
The actor’s death has since triggered an outpouring of grief across Nigeria, with colleagues, celebrities, politicians and fans paying tribute to the Yoruba film icon.
Ogogo, who had a career spanning more than four decades, was one of the prominent figures in the Yoruba-language film industry. He began his acting career in 1981 and went on to feature in numerous films, earning a reputation for his distinctive performances.
K1 De Ultimate’s emotional reaction has further highlighted the widespread grief following the death of the veteran actor.
