Makinde Makes Fresh Move Ahead of 2027, Names Digital Media Aide

Written by Mary Bassey

The 2027 presidential race is taking another shape as the presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) and Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has appointed Anthony Ehilebo as his Special Adviser on Media and Digital Communication.

The appointment, announced on Thursday by Makinde’s Special Adviser on Media, Sulaimon Olarenwaju, in Ibadan, takes immediate effect.

Ehilebo, a lawyer and communication strategist, is expected to play a key role in strengthening Makinde’s digital communication strategy and expanding the APM’s message ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

According to Makinde, Ehilebo’s experience in communication strategy and legal practice would be valuable to the campaign’s efforts to communicate its vision of “resetting Nigeria” to voters across the country.

The governor said the appointment formed part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the campaign structure, with additional appointments expected to be announced.

Makinde emerged as the APM’s presidential candidate earlier in 2026 and has since intensified preparations for the 2027 election. The party has positioned his candidacy as an alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), while calling for broader cooperation among opposition political parties.

The APM has also unveiled former Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Lawal Musa Daura, as Makinde’s running mate for the presidential contest.

The latest appointment signals the campaign’s growing focus on digital communication and strategic messaging as political parties prepare for a highly competitive 2027 election.

Further members of Makinde’s campaign team are expected to be announced as the APM continues to build its national campaign structure.
