NSCDC Unveils New Security Training as 260 Operatives Complete Programme

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Capital Territory Command, has graduated 260 private security operatives from 40 security companies following a five-day refresher training programme in Abuja.

The training, which ran from August 10 to 14, was held at the newly inaugurated FCT Command Training Ground and focused on strengthening the capacity of private security personnel to respond to emerging security challenges.

Speaking during the passing-out parade on Friday, the FCT Commandant, Dr Olusola Odumosu, said the programme was designed to equip participants with modern skills required to operate effectively in an increasingly complex and technology-driven security environment.

Odumosu stressed that private security personnel play an important role in complementing the efforts of government security agencies in protecting lives, property and critical infrastructure.

According to him, operatives are expected to develop the ability to identify potential threats, detect suspicious behaviour, control access to facilities, communicate effectively and respond appropriately to emergencies.

He also highlighted the need for private security personnel to understand information protection, critical infrastructure security and effective collaboration with relevant government security agencies.

The commandant urged the graduands to apply the knowledge and skills acquired during the training in their various places of assignment, while maintaining professionalism and discipline.

He noted that continuous training remains important as security threats evolve alongside technological advancements and changing criminal tactics.

The five-day programme is part of efforts by the NSCDC to improve standards within the private security sector and strengthen cooperation between private security companies and public security agencies.
