Youths in Obubra Local Government Area of Cross River State have raised concerns over alleged gaps in infrastructure, healthcare, education, water supply and security, calling on Comr. Dan Obo Jr. and the Evidence Group to address the challenges ahead of the evidence group rally in the area.

The concerns were raised by Brown J in a video shared on Facebook, where he questioned what the group would present as evidence of development in Obubra, insisting that residents wanted tangible projects and solutions to their problems rather than political publicity

The Evidence Group, which operates under the slogan “No Noise, Just Proof,” has reportedly been touring local government areas to showcase projects and achievements associated with the current administration. Following its reported tour of the Northern Senatorial District, the group was expected to proceed to the Central Senatorial District, with Obubra among the areas scheduled for engagement.

According to Brown J, the planned visit should provide an opportunity for political leaders to listen to residents and confront the development challenges affecting their communities.

EVIDENCE GROUP RALLY: Brown J Raises Concerns Over Obubra General Hospital, Schools

Brown J expressed concern over the condition of healthcare facilities in Obubra, alleging that the general hospital was in poor shape and that residents had to rely on private hospitals for medical services.

He also criticised the condition of public schools in the local government area, claiming that many were in a poor state and that he could not send his children to them because of the conditions.

The speaker further alleged that Government Technical College had been destroyed, calling for attention to the state of educational infrastructure in the area.

His remarks highlighted concerns about access to quality healthcare and education, two essential public services that directly affect residents’ welfare.

The claims have not been independently verified, and the relevant health and education authorities are yet to provide responses within the information available for this report.

EVIDENCE GROUP RALLY: Obubra Youths Demand Better Roads, Bridge and Clean Water

Road infrastructure was another major issue raised by Brown J, who lamented what he described as the absence of adequate roads across Obubra.

He argued that the local government needed more functional roads to improve movement, economic activities and access to essential services.

Brown J also questioned why Obubra had not benefited from a bridge linking Ofrekpe to Ebonyi State, arguing that such infrastructure could improve connectivity between communities.

While acknowledging the roundabouts at some junctions as visible projects, he maintained that residents expected broader infrastructure development across the local government area.

He further raised concerns over access to clean water, alleging that many residents lacked reliable sources of water for drinking and everyday domestic use.

Communal Crises and Security Concerns

Brown J also drew attention to communal conflicts affecting Obubra and Ikom Local Government Areas, expressing dissatisfaction with what he described as inadequate intervention by political stakeholders.

He questioned the level of attention given to affected communities and urged political leaders to prioritise peacebuilding and conflict resolution.

The speaker additionally raised concerns over alleged cases of organ harvesting in the Central Senatorial District, particularly in Obubra. He questioned the security response and claimed that no arrests had been made in connection with the incidents he referenced.

These serious allegations require independent confirmation from law enforcement authorities. The relevant security agencies would need to clarify reported incidents, investigations and any arrests made.

Brown J Questions NDDC’s Impact in Obubra

The speaker also questioned the level of development support Obubra had received from the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

Reminding Comr. Dan Obo Jr. that Obubra is part of the Niger Delta region, Brown J argued that residents had yet to see what he considered sufficient development benefits from the commission.

He further criticised Mike Etaba and other political stakeholders, accusing them of failing to adequately address the local government’s development concerns despite their participation in political activities.

Brown J’s comments reflected frustration with what he described as a lack of tangible development under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State.

The views expressed represent the speaker’s assessment of the situation and have not been independently established as a comprehensive record of government projects or interventions in Obubra.

“Campaign Our Pains,” Brown J Tells Dan Obo Jr.

Addressing Comr. Dan Obo Jr. directly, Brown J urged him and the Evidence Group to use the forthcoming rally to communicate the concerns of Obubra residents to the government.

He argued that if the group intended to showcase government achievements, it should also acknowledge the challenges confronting communities and provide verifiable information about projects and interventions.

He further warned that youths in Obubra were prepared to speak out, urging the group to ensure that photographs, videos and other publicity materials from the visit reflected the realities on the ground.

According to the speaker, the people’s concerns should form part of the engagement rather than be overshadowed by political messaging.
