Pastor launches matchmaking platform — but the price is raising eyebrows
Relationship coach and lead pastor of David’s Christian Centre, Kingsley Okonkwo, has launched a Christian matchmaking platform designed to help singles prepare for and find intentional, faith-based relationships.
The platform, Mentor To Marry, combines marriage preparation, mentoring, assessments and matchmaking for Christians seeking serious relationships.
Okonkwo announced the platform in a series of posts on X, describing it as a guided community for serious Christian singles who desire intentional, Kingdom-minded marriages.
According to the platform’s website, Mentor To Marry is different from conventional dating apps because members undergo mentoring and preparation before accessing its matching services.
The process begins with eight weeks of mentoring classes, assessments, guided reflection and accountability before profile recommendations or introductions are made.
The platform currently offers three paid membership categories — Regular, Premium and VIP.
The Regular package costs N70,000 annually and includes eight weeks of mentoring classes, assessments and surveys, limited profile browsing, an accountability system and access to a country-based matching pool.
The Premium package costs N350,000 per year and offers additional benefits, including unlimited profile browsing, monthly profile recommendations, priority access to coaches, global profiles, private groups and increased weekly chats.
At the top end, the VIP package costs N700,000 annually. It includes the Premium benefits, as well as a dedicated matchmaker and coach, priority access to the platform’s founders, off-platform introductions, profile protection and access to global profiles.
The platform is intended for Christians aged 25 and above who are seeking Christ-centred relationships and marriage. Members participating in the matching service must also provide accurate information about their identity and marital status.
Mentor To Marry is operated by Love, Dating and Marriage Ministries, a Nigerian-registered non-profit organisation. Kingsley and his wife, Mildred Okonkwo, are listed among the platform’s founders.
Okonkwo has also spoken about what he described as the increasing commercialisation of relationships, particularly the financial expectations some men face when seeking relationships.
However, he stressed that his comments were not meant to suggest that all women approach relationships for financial reasons, noting that there are women seeking serious relationships with godly men.
Despite the premium pricing, Mentor To Marry states that paying for membership does not guarantee a match, mutual interest or marriage. The platform also offers a free singles community for people who are interested in marriage but are not yet ready to join a paid membership.
