Prof. Francisca Bassey, Prof. Uduak Effiong Submit UNICROSS Work Environment Report To Gov. Otu.

On Monday, 28th September 2026, the Technical Committee led by Prof. Francisca Bassey, Prof. Uduak Effiong on Review of the Working Environment in University of Cross River State UNICROSS presented a report of the Committee to UNICROSS Visitor, Gov. Bassey Otu.

The Chairman of the Committee, Bishop Prof. Uduak Effiong, who was inaugurated on July 6, 2026 with a mandate to comprehensively assess the university and make recommendations for addressing, briefed the Governor on the report.

Sen. (Prince) Bassey Edet Otu, while receiving the official document from the Technical Committee commended the Committee for their dedication as well as commitment to the assignment.

He assured the university community that he would carefully study the report, particularly the issues raised concerning the welfare of staff and students.

The Governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to the continued development of UNICROSS, saying the State Government would provide the necessary support to strengthen the institution and enable it to continue serving as a centre of learning and manpower development for Cross River State.

Gov. Otu said that after studying the report and consulting relevant stakeholders, the State Government would reconvene to consider the recommendations and determine the way forward.

Bishop Effiong expressed appreciation to the Governor for the confidence reposed in the committee and the opportunity to undertake the
assignment.

He also commended the Vice Chancellor of UNICROSS, Prof. Francisca Bassey, for her cooperation and support throughout the committee’s engagement with the university.

The presentation of the report marks a further stage in the State Government’s intervention in the affairs of UNICROSS, with the recommendations expected to guide discussions on improving the university’s working environment and addressing issues affecting its community.
