Reasons Why Senate Pushes North Central Commission to Deliver Projects Faster

Written by Mary Bassey

The Senate Committee on the North Central Development Commission (NCDC) has urged the commission to accelerate the execution of development projects across the region by ensuring the timely and effective use of its monthly budget allocations.

The committee’s chairman, Senator Titus Zam, made the call on Tuesday while speaking with journalists after a closed-door meeting with the commission’s management at the National Assembly in Abuja.

Zam acknowledged concerns over the commission’s funding challenges but stressed that available resources should be utilised without delay to deliver meaningful and visible infrastructure and social development projects to the people of the North Central region.

According to him, the Senate expects the commission to prioritise projects that will have a direct impact on communities, while maintaining transparency and accountability in the use of public funds.

He also reaffirmed the committee’s commitment to providing legislative oversight and support to ensure the commission fulfils its mandate of driving sustainable development across the North Central states.

The North Central Development Commission was established to address the region’s developmental needs through investments in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, and other critical sectors.
