Written by calabarGist

Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State has donated 1,000 Saudi Riyals, equivalent to about N450,000, to each of the 2,410 pilgrims from the state currently performing the 2026 Hajj in Saudi Arabia.

The announcement was made on Thursday night in Mina by the Sokoto State Amirul Hajj, Muhammad Mai Gari Dingyadi, who described the gesture as part of the governor’s commitment to supporting the welfare of pilgrims during the spiritual exercise.

Dingyadi stated that the financial support would assist the pilgrims in covering personal expenses and ease their preparations for the return journey to Nigeria after completing the Hajj rites.

He commended Governor Aliyu for the intervention, noting that the gesture reflects the administration’s concern for the comfort and well-being of Sokoto pilgrims in the holy land.
