The Honourable Member, representing Calabar Municipality/Odukpani Federal Constituency, Rep. Bassey Akiba, has congratulated Bishop(Prof) U. U. Effiong on his election as the Worldwide President of the Board of Bishops of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church (A.M.E).
In a release, Rep. Bassey Akiba praised Bishop Effiong’s leadership, dedication, and resilience, describing his emergence as “deserving”.
He noted that his election to the exalted office is a significant milestone, making him the 2nd Nigerian and 5th African to hold this position. Rep. Bassey Akiba acknowledged this achievement, saying it is a “rare honour and privilege”.
Bishop(Prof) U. U. Effiong is an exceptional leader, with a distinguished career in academia and the Church. He is a full Professor of Science(Physics) Education, with over forty publications, at the University of Cross River State and has served in various capacities within the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church.
While extending his best wishes, Rep. Bassey Akiba prayed Almighty God to grant Bishop(Prof) U. U. Effiong the wisdom and grace needed to fulfill his new responsibilities.
