CR Government Recognizes 5 Outstanding Leaders
The Wife of the Cross River State Governor, Rev. Eyoawan Bassey Otu, was a Special guest at the September 21, International Day of Peace celebration, as a side event at the ongoing 79th United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Highlights of the event were the ringing of the ceremonial bell of peace, presented by Dr. Hong, Tao-Tze, Zhang-men-ren of Tai Ji Men, President of Federation of World Peace and Love.
Also at the event were award presentations to deserving humanitarian and peace icons . Recipients included Lady Angela Cooper, Congresswoman Yvette Clark, Honorable Dr. Una S.T. Clarke, and Malcolm Malcolm McDaniel who received the awards in recognition of their exceptional contributions to global peace and understanding.

The Profile of Rev. Eyoanwan Bassey Otu
Honorary awards were presented on behalf of the Cross River State Government by Dr. Inyang Asibong, the Special Adviser on Gender Mainstreaming during the side event hosted by the AFFI Foundation Incorporated.
The event, which took place on the New York coast, was attended by high-level government officials, diplomats, and international dignitaries. It provided a platform for discussing global peace initiatives and fostering cooperation among nations.
The International Day of Peace is observed around the world each year on 21 September. Established in 1981 by unanimous United Nations resolution, Peace Day provides a globally shared date for all humanity to commit to Peace above all differences and to contribute to building a Culture of Peace.
