15-Year-Old Boy’s Life Takes New Turn After What Police Found at Olumo Rock

Written by Mary Bassey

A 15-year-old boy who had been working as a roadside photographer at Olumo Rock in Abeokuta, Ogun State, is set to return to school following an intervention by the Ogun State Police Command and members of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC).

The teenager, identified as Ridwan Bolaji, had reportedly been out of school for more than three years after completing his primary education in July 2023.

According to information from the police, Ridwan was born on November 3, 2010, and attended Ijaye Community Nursery and Primary School, Gbangba, Abeokuta, where he completed his primary education.

However, financial difficulties prevented him from proceeding to secondary school. In an effort to earn a living, the teenager reportedly started learning barbering but was unable to complete the training.

He later turned to photography at the popular Olumo Rock tourist site, where he worked as a roadside photographer to support himself.

The situation reportedly came to the attention of the Ogun State Police Command, which, in collaboration with members of the PCRC, intervened to help the teenager resume his education.

The intervention is expected to provide Ridwan with an opportunity to continue his education and pursue better prospects beyond his current circumstances.

The development highlights the role that community-based interventions can play in identifying vulnerable children and helping them return to school when financial hardship prevents them from continuing their education.

Ridwan’s story also draws attention to the challenges faced by children from financially disadvantaged backgrounds and the importance of timely intervention to prevent prolonged absence from school.
