Tragic Accident Claims Life of Driver on Kara Bridge
A heartbreaking accident on Kara Bridge in Lagos early yesterday morning took the life of an unidentified adult male driver.
The tragedy unfolded when the driver of an articulated truck, trying to avoid a stationary 40-foot container, lost control of the vehicle. The truck overturned, spilling steel coils across the entire carriageway, creating a massive blockage that left other vehicles stranded.
The incident was reported at 4:26 a.m. when emergency responders were alerted through the 767/112 toll-free lines.
LASEMA’s team arrived to find the truck, which had rolled onto its side, its cargo scattered across the road, and no sign of the truck’s head. Sadly, the driver, who was caught under the wreckage, succumbed to his injuries before help could reach him.
Preliminary investigations by LASEMA revealed that the driver lost control of the vehicle while trying to navigate the road. The force of the crash caused the truck to fall on its side, spilling steel coils and severely disrupting traffic.
Although emergency teams worked tirelessly to clear the debris and restore order, the scene was grim. The driver’s body was carefully removed, but the loss was felt deeply by all those involved in the rescue operations.
LASEMA’s response team immediately set up safety measures, including controlling traffic and diverting vehicles from the accident site. Recovery efforts continued as other emergency responders worked together to clear the wreckage and restore normal traffic flow.
