The Cross River State Government has commended Sacred Heart Hospital, Obudu, for its exceptional contributions to healthcare development in the state. Mr. Coco-Bassey, Special Assistant to the Governor on Nursing, praised the hospital for its commitment to quality healthcare service delivery and its role in training nurses and midwives.
Sacred Heart Hospital, Obudu, founded by the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, has been instrumental in training midwives and providing health services to residents of Cross River State and neighboring states. The hospital has become a hub for healthcare services, and its partnership with the state government is expected to continue.
Mr. Coco-Bassey assured the hospital that, with the state government lifting the embargo on nurse employment, some of the newly recruited nurses would be posted to the facility to support its existing staff. He encouraged the hospital to strengthen its collaboration with the College of Nursing, Obudu, and the State Ministry of Health to keep up with current trends in nursing.
Rev. Fr. Bernard Anake, the hospital’s Administrator, expressed the church’s gratitude for the partnership with the government, emphasizing its positive impact on healthcare delivery. He highlighted the mutual benefits of such collaborations, noting that the church-state partnership has been fruitful over the years and continues to evolve.
Dr. Victoria Undeshi, the Provost of the College of Nursing Sciences, Obudu,lauded the hospital for maintaining high standards. She noted that the partnership between the college and the hospital would ensure that nurses and students stay abreast of the latest developments in healthcare.
The event featured a tour of the hospital’s facilities, led by the Hospital Administrator, the Head of Nursing Services at Sacred Heart Hospital, Mr. Patrick Aniah, and other management staff. It also included the unveiling of the new Outpatient Department.
