Following a deluge of complaints from people who say they have graduated from the degree program the FCE in Obudu, Cross River State, runs in collaboration with the University of Calabar for over six years and have not been mobilized for the NYSC, I took the management of the school to task.
Ok. I have made some preliminary findings and this is what I am hearing from the authorities in FCE.
1. The only pending sets yet to be mobilized for NYSC is the 2021/2022 set, 2022/2023 set and the 2023/24.
2. The 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 sets, who completed their examinations and all other requirements, have had their results approved by the UNICAL Senate and are all expected to proceed for NYSC in March 2025.
3. The 2023/2024 set results aren’t ready because they just finished their exams. They are under intensive ongoing work.
4. That the last set of graduates of the program who went for NYSC was in 2022.
5. That anyone talking about six years backlog for NYSC mobilization for the Obudu FCE degree program is lying and should tell their parents or guardians the truth about their status in the school.
6. That most of the students who squandered their fees, failed courses and don’t want to re-sit, committed breaches and were punished etc, are all claiming that it is the school that is delaying their mobilization for NYSC or delaying the release of their certificates.
I now challenge the affected students to prove the school wrong and I will go back and meet them.
Send me contrary information.
