Anambra Security Outfit Demolishes Hotel After Uncovering 30 Graves, Shrine, and Ammunition
The Anambra State security outfit, codenamed Operation Udo Ga-Achi (Agunechemba), has demolished the Udoka Golden Point Hotel and Suites, also known as “La Cruise Hotel,” situated along the Onitsha-Owerri Road.
According to authorities, the hotel served as a hub for kidnappers and other criminal activities. A statement from the Anambra State New Media, posted on X late Saturday, detailed shocking discoveries on the premises, including over 30 partitioned graves located on the top floor of the two-story building, a shrine, live ammunition, and other incriminating materials.
The security operatives stated that the operation was part of a broader crackdown on criminal hideouts across the state. Blood-stained items and live cartridges were recovered during the raid and handed over to law enforcement at the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) office in Awkuzu.
In a video released on Sunday, the operation’s leader described the findings:
“We uncovered a shrine, live ammunition, and cartridges during the raid. A ritual pot containing blood was also retrieved and handed over to the police as evidence.”
He added:
“The top floor of the hotel had over 30 partitioned graves alongside the shrine, where spiritual activities were conducted by the criminals.”
Government Confirmation and Justification on Udoka Golden Point Hotel
The Chief Press Secretary to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Mr. Christian Aburime, confirmed the incident, explaining that the demolition followed investigations linking the Udoka Golden Point Hotel to kidnapping and other heinous crimes.
“The hotel was demolished after being identified as a kidnappers’ den. Among the discoveries were graves, army uniforms, live cartridges, and other evidence. Local residents had reported frequent gunshots at night but were too fearful to raise alarms due to threats of retaliation,” Aburime stated.
He further noted that the Homeland Security Law of 2025, recently enacted by the state government, has empowered both citizens and security agencies to take decisive action against criminal elements.
“This operation is part of our ongoing efforts to rid Anambra State of criminals. More buildings linked to criminal activities, including kidnapping and robbery, will be demolished, and those responsible will face prosecution,” Aburime assured.
Community Reaction
The demolition has been met with widespread approval from local residents, who expressed relief at the government’s swift and decisive action. Many praised the security outfit for addressing a long-standing threat to their safety and for restoring peace in the area.
The Anambra State Government remains committed to eradicating criminal activities and ensuring the safety and well-being of its citizens.
