The All Progressives Congress (APC) Riders Support Group, an arm of The Riders Global, has applauded the Cross River State Governor, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, for fulfilling his campaign promises through massive youth empowerment initiatives.
They also reiterated the group’s commitment to collaborate with government institutions, the private sector, and individuals in promoting policies that drive inclusive governance.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Chief Dr. Mark Nomba Ayo, Chairman of the Group, described the gesture as a landmark stride in the administration’s commitment to youth development.
“Governor Otu has demonstrated that politics is not only about promises but action and this empowerment programme is a practical example of putting the people first, equipping them with skills, and providing the financial base to succeed.”
He further hailed the programme as one of the most impactful interventions in recent times, projecting that the ripple effect will transform not only the lives of the beneficiaries but also their host communities.
Also lending his voice, Chief James Alicha Okpamu, an elder statesman and Ambassador of the group, commended Governor Otu for translating his campaign commitments into tangible results.
“What we are witnessing today is governance with a human face; this is not just a social intervention but a strategic investment in peace, productivity, and prosperity.”
In alignment with his “People First” mantra, Governor Otu, on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, disbursed ₦800 million in empowerment grants to 400 beneficiaries, including youths and ex-militants drawn from across the state with each beneficiary receiving a start-up grant of ₦2 million after completing months of intensive agro-based training at one of Nigeria’s largest privately integrated farms in Nasarawa State.
The governor’s initiative ensured that the selected youths were first exposed to practical and theoretical knowledge in modern agriculture before financial support was provided, guaranteeing sustainability, discouraging financial recklessness, and promoting long-term self-reliance.
