The Member representing Calabar Municipality/Odukpani Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rep. Bassey Akiba, has joined millions of Nigerians at home and abroad in celebrating the nation’s 65th Independence Anniversary.
In his goodwill message, Rep. Akiba expressed profound gratitude to God for sustaining Nigeria through the years despite numerous challenges. He described the Independence Day celebration as not just a reminder of the country’s liberation from colonial rule, but also a call for renewed unity, sacrifice, and patriotism among all citizens.
According to the lawmaker, Nigeria’s diversity remains one of its greatest strengths if properly harnessed. He urged Nigerians to remain committed to peace, dialogue, and nation-building, stressing that the democratic journey of the country is a collective responsibility.
“At 65, our dear country has come a long way. We have faced difficult moments, yet we have triumphed in many ways. This anniversary calls for sober reflection, gratitude, and most importantly, a renewed determination to build a Nigeria that truly works for all,” he stated.
Rep. Akiba reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to delivering quality representation for the people of Calabar Municipality and Odukpani, while supporting initiatives that promote national unity, equity, and inclusive development.
He also congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and Governor Bassey Edet Otu of Cross River State on this milestone, pledging his continued support for policies and programs that advance good governance and improve the welfare of Nigerians.
The Independence Day celebration, he added, should inspire hope, courage, and a stronger resolve to secure a prosperous future for generations to come.
Happy 65th Independence Day, Nigeria! 🇳🇬
