# NSCDC Suspends Officer Arrested Over Gunfire Incident at Abuja Market
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has suspended a Deputy Superintendent of Corps, DSC Onoja Babayo Samuel, following his arrest over an alleged gunfire incident at Kubwa Market in Abuja.
The officer was reportedly arrested by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command after allegedly firing shots into the air during a confrontation with traders at the popular market.
The incident reportedly occurred during a disagreement between the officer and some traders, prompting police intervention and his subsequent arrest.
Following the development, the NSCDC announced the suspension of the officer pending further investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The suspension is expected to allow the relevant authorities to investigate the allegations and determine the appropriate disciplinary measures.
The incident has raised concerns over the conduct of security personnel and the need for officers to exercise restraint while carrying out their duties, particularly during disagreements with members of the public.
