The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has commended Governor Bishop Sen Dr. Prince Otu’s administration for its remarkable strides in infrastructural development in Colleges of Nursing in Cross River State. This accolade was conveyed during an exit meeting between the NBTE team and the Honorable Commissioner for Health, Elder (Dr.) Henry Egbe Ayuk, who represented the Governor and the State Ministry of Health.
The Honorable Commissioner for Health expressed gratitude to the accreditation team for acknowledging the progress made in improving the Colleges of Nursing, attributing the success to the Governor’s unwavering support for nursing education and practice development. He noted that the state government is committed to funding nursing education and training saying, “Our colleges have demonstrated a strong commitment to nursing education and training, and we are confident that this accreditation will further enhance our programs.”

The NBTE Zonal Coordinator, Mr. Cyril Mbong, praised the state government for upgrading infrastructure in all the colleges, stating, “We have seen seriousness in the Government of Cross River State. Our recommendations will be to improve more because NBTE’s vision is to strengthen educational systems in Nigeria.” He added, “We like what we have seen so far, and we expect the colleges to attend to other issues and make them model institutions nationally and internationally.”

Government representatives, including, Rt Dr Ekpo Ekpo, Special Adviser on Health, Mrs. Uduak Efem, Special Adviser on Nursing Education; Mr. Coco-Bassey Esu, Special Assistant to the Governor on Nursing; Dr. Christy Essien Ekpe, Chairman, College of Nursing Science Calabar; Mrs. Joy Obetem, Provost of the College; Mrs. Roseline Obojor, CRS Director of Nursing Services; and Comrd Josephine Bassey, CRS NANNM Chairman, lauded the collegiate system and the Governor’s support for nursing education and training.
The NBTE team’s visit underscores the Board’s commitment to ensuring quality education and training in nursing institutions across Nigeria.
