The Governor of Cross River State, Bassey Otu, is set to officially launch the “Season of Sweetness” free transport initiative this afternoon, as part of activities marking the Easter celebrations across the state.
The initiative, which has become a hallmark of the Otu administration, is designed to provide relief to residents by offering free transportation services during major festive periods, particularly Christmas and Easter.
The programme is aimed at cushioning the financial pressure associated with travel, enabling citizens to move freely within the state without the burden of transport costs.
Ahead of the launch, the Special Adviser to the Governor on General Duties and coordinator of the scheme, Ekpenyong Akiba, had earlier hinted at the rollout of the initiative, building anticipation among residents and stakeholders across the state.
Government sources indicate that the scheme will cover all routes within the state capital and its outskirt and also other local government areas ensuring that people across both urban and rural areas benefit from the intervention.
